 The play itself is a play within a play. It is opening night of the play "A Little Ditty About Jacques and Diane" a wonderful love story about two French kids growing up in the 14th century French heartland. They were best friends, but separated at a young age when Jacques’ father took the family to America. He has now returned and Jacques and Diane fall in love. However, everything falls apart when "Jacques" takes advantage of a situation at the end of act 1. Act 2 does not go as planned. A neurotic director, a shy stage manager, misused props, characters assuming each other's roles including dressing as them, a house manager who only speaks French and dreams of being on a stage (one day), and an improvised costume all lead to the play's tragic (yet hilarious) finale.This play will have audience members barking, I mean laughing their heads off.
